appearance | On the tall side, Cronus is slender and not very muscular (though he likes to flex in the mirror and pretend so). He has short black hair which is slicks back into the most pompous of do's, along with blue eyes. His clothes are expensive, yet he somehow manages to look basic despite this.

AU history | As the first of two children to parents who come from old money, Cronus has always been the epitome of spoiled brat. Growing up in a ritzy area of New York, Cronus has never gone without anything he's wanted or needed- except perhaps enough parental affection to ensure that he doesn't grow up to be a massive shit, which would explain a lot.
From a young age, Cronus always managed to find a way to get in trouble at school. Whether it was from bad grades because he wasn't applying himself, or because of low-key harassment by bothering girls on the playground or in the hallways. It wasn't ever quite enough to get him in any real trouble, but it was always enough to get a firm talking to from his parents. When his little brother was born, things really only got worse from there- especially when Eridan started getting more of the attention and- in Cronus's words= the favoritism. This lead to a pretty big strain on his relationships with them, as he couldn't help resent them for just not understanding him and they couldn't tolerate behavior that was tarnishing their reputation. It wouldn't be until his later teens that he would end up getting expelled for the first, and hopefully last, time in his life.
Of course, it was all a misunderstanding! He didn't mean to grope anyone's butt or anything. But it was the last straw on an already rocky road and Cronus was ultimately kicked out of his school. He spent a year being homeschooled so that a closer eye could be kept on him. During this time, he spent a lot of time soul-searching and indulging his hobbies. Of the things he discovered about himself, of course it would be that he wasn't born the person he was supposed to be, so he pretends to have poor English around people that don't know him to gain their pity. Of course this barely works, considering everyone from where he's from is painfully aware of his reputation.
Along with that, he also embraced a passion for music he hadn't known he'd had, especially guitar and singing. Naturally, his parents could only tolerate all of this so long before they decided that home schooling was absolutely not working; who could stand his shit for an extended period of time? He was lucky they lasted as long as they did. So in the end, they decided to send him away to a boarding school, both to get him out of their hair and in the hopes that a more structured environment might curb his difficult tendencies. The generous donation only served to cement his status as a new student at Clarion Prep.
It worked out for him, too, because he saw it as the perfect opportunity for a fresh start, with people who didn't know his problematic reputation.
personality | To put it simply, Cronus is a terrible person and it takes a lot of digging to find any redeemable qualities in him. He's very much the type of person who only cares about himself and getting what he wants, even if it's at the expense of other people. The only difference is that he's better at hiding it through manipulation than some people are. Did he make a mistake? Oh no, it's just a misunderstanding, or you're blowing it out of proportion. Still mad at him? Well why can't you cut him some slack? He's going through a tough time, can't you see that he deserves a second chance? God, why can't you have some sensitivity?
Those are just a few examples of how he likes to try and twist things around. Cronus is all about trying to gain sympathy from people, because at his core he likes attention. He likes attention so much that he would fake being foreign with a shitty made up accent just to try and get attention and this probably isn't the worst or most offensive thing that Cronus would do for attention. Along with that, Cronus is extremely inappropriate- let's just say he likes people a little too much sometimes. Okay, let's not sugar coat things anymore. He likes sex. Or at least the idea of sex, because his personality makes it hard to get any. It's gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion, because he can be pretty pushy with it. He just can't understand why no one would be into him, y'know? He has a huge ego and it makes it hard to get why he's always friendzoned.
Perhaps the only genuine part of him is his passion for music, which he's slowly starting to get good at. Of course he has other reasons for getting into it. He likes to use it to impress people, because who doesn't love someone who can play guitar? Or a sensitive, struggling artist just trying to make it in a world that doesn't support him? Yeah, even his hobbies scrape the bottom of the sincerity barrel.
All in all, Cronus is an attention seeking pervert who really needs to try harder at being a decent person- but that's going to take a lot, because he's just so damn oblivious to his own bad behavior and isn't likely to change on his own.
SAMPLES
sample 1 | There were days where class was dull and it made Cronus feel like his brain was going to melt and leak out of his ears. But then there were other days where it was much easier to pay attention. Perhaps not to the things he was supposed to be paying attention to, but still. At least his attention was on something.
And what was that?
His teacher's glorious derriere. Sure, her skirt was frumpy and left everything to the imagination, but Cronus, for all of his faults, had an amazing imagination. To those who didn't know him, they would think he was paying far too much attention to the lecture going on, but to those who did know him, they would know that wasn't the case. Unfortunately for him, the staff were more than aware of his reputation.
"Mr. Ampora?" came the teacher's voice, rousing him from his fantasies. His eyes shot from below to her face and he looked almost like a deer in the headlights. "Do you have any thoughts on the matter?"
"Amazing," he said, without even thinking- god, he didn't even know what she was talking about.
"What's amazing?" she prodded, folding her arms, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Your ass…assessment of history," he stuttered out. It was a feeble save, even he had to admit that.
With pursed lips, the teacher nodded slowly. "See me after class."
How bad could that be?
sample 2 | "How bad could it be?" he'd thought. Well, it could be pretty awful. As it turned out, she hadn't been wooed by his natural charm and had, in fact, cursed him with detention. Cronus had always hated detention. It was so boring, there was nothing to do! Sure, they were supposed to study, but he didn't feel like it. The only time he studied was the night before a test that he absolutely had to pass or face his father's wrath.
Letting out a long sigh, he slouched in his chair, before raising his hand. "Can I use the restroom?"
This was met with a flat look. Of course he couldn't use the restroom, was the unspoken statement before she went back to her papers. She knew he would just go goof off instead of coming back promptly.
Cronus grumbled under his breath and leaned back over his book. "Just wait until my father hears about this…" He wouldn't utter a word to his father, but it felt like a good threat to use.
"Oh, he'll be hearing all about my assessment, Mr. Ampora. Don't worry."
Cronus's face drained and he looked like he'd just seen a ghost. It was enough to shut him up for the rest of detention, where he quietly stewed on what he was going to say to try and cover his tracks on this. The last thing he needed was his father to hear about this, he'd had enough lectures to last him a lifetime. It wasn't his fault that no one understood him. It just wasn't.
